About

happyday1.1Hello and welcome!

My name is Katie Metcalfe and I am a writer from England with an insatiable passion for Scandinavia. I have lived in the north of England for the majority of my life. When I haven’t been in England, I have been spending time in Iceland and Norway. I have also spent time travelling in Sweden and Denmark. It is my goal to be living and working in Scandinavia (ideally Norway) by the time I am 30 and I am 29 this year so I don’t have long!

My obsession with Scandinavia started when I was a little girl, and developed into something wonderfully all consuming as I approached my late teens. The majority of my work nowadays is Scandinavian based, and I am proud of the knowledge I have developed through personal study of Scandinavian culture, history and folklore.

Scandinavia is very much a fixture in my life. Not a day goes by when I am not engaged in northerly related writings or researching. The function of this blog is to celebrate my love for Scandinavian countries – Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland – and to embrace and share everything that’s truly magnificent about them.

I hope you enjoy your time here and if you would like even more Scandinavian things, my Tumblr journal has plenty! If you would like to get in touch, please contact me at: katiemariemetcalfe@hotmail.co.uk I’m always delighted to hear from readers. You can also find out loads more about my work at my website and my writing blog.

  1. Hi Katie – I went to Oslo a few weeks ago and fell in love with the place, so I understand where your passion for Scandinavia lays. Going to Bergen in a month. Good luck in achieving your goal!
